Am I home yet?

Home
Home is warm
Home is tight
Home the heart beat I hear
Home is the little sounds
Home is comforting
Home is loving
Home is nurturing
Home is positive
Home is trustworthy
Home is loving
Home is unconditional
Home is a blessing
Home is joy
Home is kind
Home is caring
Home is open minded
Home is accepting
Home is my mom
My mom is my home
She makes it home
Home isn't a place to me its my mom
Home is when I lay on her and hear her heart beat
Home is when I smell her freshly baked cookies
Home is sneaking into my moms bed to talk
Home is when she is playing with my hair while I'm dozing off
Home is hearing her laugh with my siblings
Home is craziness
Home is a free spirit
Home Is independent
Home is always there for me
Home has always been there for me
Home is far away from me now
But soon ill be home
Soon ill see my best friend
my mom and my home.

My mom was home when I had noonelse
My mom was my home when I needed her
I always need a home
My physical home has been broken
My heart has been broken
But at home I am complete

Home is somewhere else
Home is where I wish I was
Home is what I miss the most
Home is far
Home isn't home without my mom
My mom lives across the country but when I see her I will be at home
I will be at home in her presence

uh-LIH-suh

ALYSSA
Alyssa pronounced uh-LIH-suh
Thats how I like it and thats whats proper right?
alot of people get it wrong
My parents say it wrong to me they say it
more like uh-lee-siii-uhhh
if they wanted to name me that they should of spelled it
differently maybe more like Alissia or Elisa I don't know
Alyssa happens to be a popular name
actually it was the most common name of 1995
and of course that's the year I was coming into this world

I discovered other Alyssas starting in preschool
And throughout elementary school there was other Alyssas
I was always labeled Alyssa M.
I hated that
M M M M M M
for six years !
Then I met my best friend...
also an Alyssa
We became " THE ALYSSAs
  My name follows me
THE ALYSSAs happened to cheer together
be and her are always together
our names became our title as friends

I have a love hate relationship with my name
I love why I have my name:
My great grandma Elissia"Alice" Gomez
My parents tried to combine the names
It was a good gesture and they thought it would be different
They thought wrong....but its okay

The name Alyssa comes from alyssum which is a flower
When you think about it, its nice to say
Yeah my name comes from a flower.
Flowers to me represent beauty
I like that
I hope I reflect beauty inside and out just like the flower

Super Star Student x100

As a college student everyday is different for me. Between work, school, and the everyday life its hard to find a balance at times. With all the things I do in my life, sometimes I feel like I have super powers managing my time! If could have real superpowers in the classroom I think my entire life would be a little calmer.Through the shuffle of my everyday life I tend to get a little forgetful in certain areas that my brain sees as "unnecessary" , probably because my brain is on overload with things.

Having the super powers of having a photogenic memory to take mental images to remember would be ideal in the classroom setting for me.Having images to come back to at any time would help me throughout the entire classroom.

Any time I have a test, instead of staring at the paper hoping the answers will come to me I could simply read the question, mentally look back at that day and the lesson to answer question by question. Also, once I obtain any information from one class I could utilize those little "images" of things between all classes. Me remembering things can essentially lead to me not having to take any notes....ever, and I okay with that, its like 2 problems with one power. (SAVE THE TREES...HAVE SUPERPOWERS...SAVE THE HAND CRAMPS OF WRITING)

Also, I think having this power would let me help so many more people inside the classroom as well. I can master multiple skills and subjects, or even all of them if I wanted to and then be able to share my knowledge with others. A downfall to this would be me getting frustrated with teaching others, simply because they don't learn as easy as  I would. ...hmm there is always a down side of being super I guess.

ASB kids were cool in highschool ?

 (wierd ASB family)

I was going into my senior year in high school and wanted to do something to impact my school.I decided to make a bold move and interview for ASB. I decided to try out for PEP/Activities since I was a very spirited person throughout high school.

Day one of interviews was so nerve wrecking. It was a hot day, and I was freaking out on what questions they were going to ask me. I walked in and the entire table was full of the"board" of people. My interview went smoothly even though I was stuttering within answering just about every question. I had the grades, experience, and activities they were looking for and I went out of that interview confident. After the interview at school I experienced a lot of criticism from fellow classmates.Since I'm a pretty quite person and was a tad be of a nerd, I was told I couldn't and wouldn't make this position that requires an outgoing person.

About a week later started the 2nd round of the interview  process which was a speech in front of a board of people as well as some staff members. I tried to get creative in this process by spelling out " spirit" within my speech saying how I WOULD fit in and reasons why. That day I felt the most confident in the process.I was waiting in a huge line and realized everyone was trying out for the same position I was. I started getting anxious knowing in the past there has only been about 3 or 4 spots in this regent. So here I go again walking, this time into a full library of people waiting for my 2 minute speech. I felt everyone's eyes glued to me and my little posters with my speech taped to the back. I saw the excitement and heard the little giggles within my speech. I wanted to make it factual but also fun for I wanted to be responsible for organizing all the activities within my school.

Once I finished I felt a sense of relief, and went home secretly thinking who I thought would make it based off who was in line with me.

The following week was the moment of truth, I received a note in one of my classes that I made it ! I felt so happy in that moment. I proved that I can make it for myself and also show others that I have potential to make an impact in my school.

This accomplishment continued and grew into others throughout my entire year. I was blessed with that opportunity and it has really shaped me into the person I am. I know its not a big deal for anyone else but, for me it was great !!!!

Student as a cheerleader.

Displaying photo.JPGI've been a cheerleader for now going on 10 years.I started off on sideline and competitive cheer but found my passion in all-star cheer.I'm currently on a Coed level 6 team. Cheer is my life and I've always had to balance being a student and being in cheer because of competitions, and practices. This was easy to me because I got to think of cheer in a different way.I think of being a student as being in a cheer stunt.

The bases:My teachers and Professors
 Me/student: Flyer
The coach: Is my family
The crowd: Is society

The bases are responsible for guiding me up to the air. They are the ones giving the flyer the tools she needs to stay up in the air. They lift the flyer up and have to check up on her/him to see if they're okay in the air.( A teacher checking in on the student and giving them the correct tools they need)

(can you see me?)

Me, the student is the flyer. I am up on top of the pyramid, it is my responsibility to stay tight (focused), remember what my coach taught me, and apply the knowledge I learned through experience ,such as falling down and failing. Also, if my bases are failing at doing their part, I'm going to do everything in my control to stay up in the air and save the overall stunt.

The coach is the one who is responsible to be on the same page as the whole team. They are the motivators to do better and to work harder towards our goals for the team.
(my Allstar coaches)

(my HHS coach)

The crowd are the spectators. Sometimes this is other classmates or society in a whole. They observe and watch your every move to see if you're going to stick every stunt or not and also what the outcome is going to be in the end, getting an award or not.(diploma)

3 struggles turned into strengths

The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song.  The LORD is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one.

-Psalms 28

I want to consider myself as a pretty strong young lady, but I do admit I have my flaws. I tend to often feel very lonely and kinda empty. Now that I'm a college student living alone I seek more strength.I have found strength in my  weakness when I drew closer to God and His word. I know I know this is a typical little saying but its true ! I don't know what I would do without Gods love, strength and comfort in my life. With His guidance and love , I have  strength to overcome anything and everything in my life.As a student I try to incorporate my belief system into the way I conduct myself. I will always find God as a strength in every situation in life.(If you would like to learn more about God please talk to me, or use the links:

Another strength I have that goes along with being a good student is being approachable and friendly to those around me. I grew up being kind of an outsider with not that many friends. I've always tried to stay positive and open myself up to people around me. I love meeting new people and helping them, because I know how it feels to be alone. I think me being friendly throughout school can help others through their struggles, and maybe even brighten their day with a simple hello. Helping others also helps myself because I feel helpful and it connects me with other people for when I need the help. I love being connected to others.

Lastly, I feel that a really good strength I have as a student is being open minded. I used to feel judged and looked down upon based on my beliefs and opinions. Now that I am an adult I always try to give others a chance for everything in every situation. I always look to the other side of things if I don't agree with something I like to understand the other point of view. I love learning new things, i'm a really curious person and I believe this is useful in being open minded as a student. I wish more people will open up their minds to new ideas.
